The ST705 is the ST801’s coupling in the ST605’s body. When Fuji split its M42 range in 1976 into a cheap stop-down camera and a dearer full-aperture one, the ST605 took the first job and the ST705 the second: the same 133 × 86 × 88mm chassis, the same rectangular eyepiece and two SR44 cells, but with the follower ring round the flange, the lock pin with its release button beside the mount, a meter that comes on at the first pressure of a lockable release, and a cloth shutter that runs from 1 second to 1/1500. The 1/1500 is as odd as the 605’s 1/700 and nobody at Fuji explained either.
